囲炉裏（イロリ）

昔の囲炉裏（イロリ）があります。
There is a traditional old fashioned Japanese living room.

【火棚】

格子状に組まれた木の枠で、イロリの上につり下げます。その上にぬれたワラグツなどを置いて乾かしたり、魚や穀物をつるし乾燥保存させるなど幅広く利用しました。
A wooden grid and frame, hung over the hearth. It was used for drying straw, grain, fish, and many other things.

【みそ玉】

柔らかく煮た大豆をつぶして丸めたもの。火棚に下げて乾燥させます。
Miso Ball. Boiled soy beans were mashed and formed into a ball. They were left to dry on the hearth rack.

【鉄瓶（てつびん）】

鉤（かぎ）などにかけて、お湯を沸かします。
Hung from a hook, Iron Kettle was used to boil water.

【ごとく】

イロリの中で鉄瓶を立てた鉄製の輪。
An iron ring was a stand for an iron cattle in the fire place.

【わたし】

イロリの灰の中に置かれた鉄製の道具。上に餅などをのせて焼きました。
This iron grate was placed inside the hearth. Mochi,sticky rice cake and other foods were cooked on top.
